By 1967, the highly successful Mustang was challenged by a full stable of other pony cars - including the Firebird, Camaro and Barracuda. So Ford responded to the challenge with a slew of new opyions designed to keep the Mustang ahead of the pack. Under the hood, the 1967 Ford Mustang was powered by the massive new 320 horsepower 390 V-8. And the body design made the car look as tough as it performed. It was longer and wider and the fastback design was accentuated with a sweeping foofline. Even the grille looked more aggressive. And the 1967 Mustang gave customers plenty of options - which could drive up the price another $1,000 - including a Competition Handling Package ($388.53) that contained such extras as anti-sway bar, stiffer springs and Koni shocks...and the GT Equipment Group ($205.05) which offered foglamps, rocker stripes and fat wide-oval tyres. A power convertible top could be had for a mere $52.95! And now a fully equipped '67 Mustang has been recaptured in one of its boldest colour combinations - Nightmist body with red interior.
